Inaugural beauty: First Lady Michelle Obama
For all of the enormity of Tuesday’s inaugural events, fashionistas couldn’t help but anticipate First Lady Michelle Obama’s appearance at the evening’s inaugural balls - what would she wear? After her elegant Isabel Toledo ensemble during the inauguration ceremony, we couldn’t wait to see what she would choose for evening, and indeed, she did not disappoint!
She opted for a white, one-shouldered gown by 26-year-old New York designer Jason Wu. We have come to know Michelle’s style as youthful and comfortable, and this gown was no exception to that. In keeping with that, her beauty look was very simple. She kept her makeup natural-looking, and she wore her dark hair down and straight, resisting any temptation to go elaborate. According to Adam Glassman of Oprah magazine, this simplicity paid off - he told New York Newsday, “I think she looks modern, youthful and fresh, and I’m happy she kept her hair the way she wears it, instead of some updo.” What do you think of our First Lady’s style?
