When did Baby Get Back on the Red Carpet?
Has anyone noticed how showing the derriere is a mandatory pose on the red carpet these days? There is no doubt that Jennifer Lopez struck fear in the minds (and other places) of men when that flygirl booty hit the runway. Women hit the stair master like never before in search of a fierce back side. Lunges became a gym staple in an effort to make a notable exit. What happened to the classic poses that the big screen goddesses of the 40’s and 50’s struck? Thnk of screen sirens Joanne Woodward, Audrey Hepburn or Gracey Kelly. Can you imagine them striking a pose with a booty as the focal point?
Usher in the 60’s and while cleavage was big (no pun intended), still no backside action was going on.
Red carpet worthy actresses displayed the freedom in dress that typified the 60’s, but all the attention was at the neckline. Angie Dickinson and Sally Kellerman let it all hang out. The same held true in the 90’s when Rebecca DeMornay and Cindy Crawford delighted spectators clad in all white with serious cleavage action. And we can’t forget Demi Moore with her new “Striptease” breasts all prominent and perky.

But ahh, the new millennium and it’s all about the reverse pose. Beyonce’ replaced J Lo as the queen of the gluteous maximus. Stars and starlets everywhere are springing up with real deal rear ends. Personal trainers must be making a fortune in Hollywood, or else plastic surgeons specialzing in the cheek implants (no, not for face) are raking in the dough.
Not everyone has the curves of the B girl, but there is no doubt that the the adoration of the booty has merged from hip hop to mainstream. Let’s not get it twisted though. Just because some recording, movie or television has made you a star, that does not mean that you have the right to show your rear. Some back sides are not liked too well by the camera. As a good friend of mine would say “Don’t do that!”
Let’s take a look. The reverse pose — Hot or Not. Or as I prefer, Hot or Hot mess. My list of NOTS! Eva Longoria at Dolce & Gabbana, sorry not to much going on. Turn around Girl! The camera loves your face. Scarlett Johansson at a Golden Globes after party. Turn around Girl! Your front is more captivating that the back.

Maybe the reverse pose should be left to the video vixens and calendar girls. I mean, if they can’t dance, sing or act their way out of a paper bag, let them flaunt their assets. Ice T’s woman Coco who claims that rear is 100% natural can definitely do the backside pose. Playmate and video girl Vida Guerra is an equal opportunity poser. Front and back both work for her.
I do have a message for women who are READING this post. Know your body. Learn what works for you and what doesn’t. If you look better coming that going, dress accordingly. Don’t try to accentuate what isn’t there. All is not lost however the the girls who are lacking in the rear end. Not everyone is culturally attracted to the bigger-is-better bottom. So I suppose that’s when less-is-more is a blessing.
Hip hop celebrates the booty. Pirates celebrate booty. And now it appears that Hollywood in general is hopping on the booty bandwagon. So how long will Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “I like big butts” anthem reign on the red carpet?

I say hot! Your face has a nice angle that way also and in modeling I have been asked for that pose now I know why:D
